Labiaplasty New Jersey

Some women are born with enlarged labia (minora or majora), but the effects of aging, childbirth, and weight loss can also have a tremendous impact on vaginal appearance. An enlarged labia can make daily activities, exercise—even sexual intercourse—uncomfortable and embarrassing.

Many women also have deformed labia from piercings, cysts, or other medical conditions—even from previous labiaplasty surgeries performed by underqualified doctors. In these cases, the labia might be completely or partially amputated, have a jagged appearance, or even holes in the skin.

If you have large or asymmetric labia, or are unhappy or uncomfortable with the shape or appearance of your labia, then you should know that there are safe surgical procedures that can sculpt the labia into a more aesthetically-pleasing, youthful appearance—helping you feel more confident about your body.

What Is It?

Labiaplasty in New Jersey improves the physical look of the external vaginal structures and can reverse many of the changes that may have occurred over time. Labiaplasty may involve the labia minora (inner lips) and majora (outer lips), as well as the prepuce (the skin folds around the clitoral hood) and the clitoral hood itself.

A labiaplasty may be the perfect procedure for you because it reshapes the labia, reducing them in size so that they do not protrude and are more symmetric. The result is a clean, sleek look that has dramatically improved the lives of our patients for the better—both physically and emotionally.

What Procedures Are Available to Me?

Dr. Falguni Patel, a board certified gynecological surgeon, has been trained by some of the world’s leading physicians in this field. She has put her skills to work for more than 15 years, offering her patients a full range of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery—including minimally-invasive and non-invasive vaginal and labial rejuvenation procedures.

Labiaplasties are the most commonly performed vaginal rejuvenation procedure here at the Rejuvenate Center for Medical Aesthetics and Wellness. Because every woman’s needs are different, however, we recommend that you schedule a complimentary consultation to discuss your particular concerns and goals. It is our mission to provide you with the absolute best labia reduction NJ has to offer.

Typical labiaplasty procedures include:

Labia Minora Reduction

The labia minora are the inner folds of skin that are attached to and part of the clitoral hood. For many women, enlarged labia minora cause unhappiness with their physical appearance and discomfort while engaging in simple physical activity.

This procedure reduces the labia minora so that they do not protrude outside the vulva, or corrects any asymmetry in which one labia is longer than the other. The most commonly performed reduction procedures are the curvilinear trim—in which extra tissue is removed—and  the wedge, which removes a pie-shaped piece of tissue to sculpt a natural border. Closure is typically done with absorbable sutures.

In both cases, you’ll achieve a neater, more compact appearance of the labia minora with less protrusion and greater symmetry.

Labia Majora Reduction

The labia majora are the fatty outer folds of skin that extend from the pubic mound down to the perineum just under the vaginal opening. Typically, the labia majora are plump and protrude slightly, but when this area is enlarged, it can protrude or hang down more than you may desire. This condition tends to worsen with age and weight fluctuation.

Enlarged labia majora can be treated with our labiaplasty in NJ which is a reduction surgery, and may be combined with other cosmetic procedures such as labia minora reduction, vaginoplasty, or monsplasty. The procedure involves making an incision along the inner fold of the majora and the minora, and then removing the excess skin and/or fat. The incision is then sealed with several layers of absorbable sutures.

You’ll achieve a more youthful appearance of the labia majora with less protrusion and a reduction of sagging or wrinkled skin.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

This surgical procedure is often performed in conjunction with a labia minora/majora reduction procedure, often as a result of excess folds left around the clitoral hood when skin is removed from the labia.

The excess tissue is marked and a simple excision is made to the extent of the folds. Closure is usually done with absorbable sutures.

You’ll achieve a neater, more compact appearance overall by reducing the size and area of the clitoral hood. To learn more or schedule a consultation for a clitoral hood reduction in New Jersey, contact us today.

What Can I Expect?

For all of our labiaplasty procedures, your recovery is quick and the risks are minimal. Nevertheless, a labiaplasty is an intricate cosmetic surgery that requires skill and expertise to achieve superior results.

As with any cosmetic surgical procedure, preparation and recovery can vary by patient. Every detail of your surgery—including preparation and post-surgical recovery recommendations—are always determined on an individual basis after careful consultation and a thorough physical examination with Dr. Falguni Patel.

The length of time required for the surgery, and to see results from it, will also vary depending on the patient and the combination of procedures you undergo.

Our entire staff is here to make your procedure go as smoothly and comfortably as possible. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the staff and Dr. Falguni Patel and then taken into one of our pre-op rooms. Dr. Patel will again go over the surgery and review any last questions you may have.

The surgery will be performed in our state-of-the-art, OSHA-certified procedure suite. Most of our patients are awake and under light sedation, but we do have an anesthesiologist on staff if you desire. A personal surgical assistant will be present to take care of all your needs before, during, and after your New Jersey labiaplasty.

Afterward, you can relax comfortably in our recovery room until you are ready to return home.

Aviva Scarless Labiaplasty

What is it?

AVIVA is a life-changing procedure for women who feel self-conscious, unhappy, or uncomfortable with their enlarged or irregularly-shaped labia, but who are also hesitant to consider surgery to correct the issue.

Traditional labiaplasty surgery involves general anesthesia, incisions, stitches, and recovery time that includes a temporary break from sexual activity while the patient heals. Some patients want results but don’t want to subject themselves to the stress and anxiety of a serious medical procedure.

AVIVA is a non-surgical technique that uses radiofrequency (RF) technology instead of surgery to reduce the labia. With AVIVA, you achieve immediate results with no surgical incisions, little to no pain, and minimal downtime.

Dr. Falguni Patel is one of the few skilled gynecological surgeons to offer the AVIVA SCARLESS LABIAPLASTY procedure, which reduces the size or laxity of the labia majora without invasive surgery. The procedure uses a local anesthetic and requires no stitches, creating amazing results with dramatically-reduced recovery time for your labiaplasty in New Jersey.

The Rejuvenate Center for Medical Aesthetics and Wellness offers two other procedures for your face and body that complement AVIVA: FaceTite and BodyTite. All three are remarkable procedures that can be combined with Morpheus8, Botox, and other procedures we provide to enhance your complete look.

What Can I Expect?

The AVIVA SCARLESS LABIAPLASTY procedure makes a micro-incision and then directs Radio-Frequency Assisted Lipolysis (RFAL) energy to the labia tissue, not only removing excess tissue, but also tightening the skin layers.

Patients typically only require one treatment per area, and the procedure is performed in-office under local anesthesia. The entire procedure usually takes about 20 minutes.

Results are instant and permanent, and most patients can return to normal activity within 1–2 days. Results continue to improve afterward, with best results visible after 3–6 months.

Frequently asked questions

The reasons why women opt for labiaplasty surgery include:

  • Enlarged labia minora or majora
  • Asymmetrical labia minora (one inner lip larger than the other)
  • Reducing excess tissue overhanging the clitoris
  • Difficulty with exercise, hygiene, sexual activity and/or physical activity
  • Repairing labial tear from childbirth
  • Emotional distress due to bulging of labia through tight clothing

If you experience physical discomfort because of your labia, then you should consider labiaplasty in NJ for its functional benefits. It is also an option if you’re discontented with the shape of your labia.

Labiaplasty is medically necessary when:

  • Wearing underwear or a bathing suit, or physical activities like biking, running or dancing are painful or chafe the vulvar skin.
  • Labia get tucked into the vagina during sex, resulting in painful tears in the vulvar skin.

The procedure is beneficial when the labia minora is larger than 4cm/1.5in which can cause significant pain and soreness during and/or after physical activity. The procedure is otherwise not medically necessary.

The cost of labiaplasty surgery is determined on a case-by-case basis. It depends on the type of procedure, and takes into account the surgeon’s fee and hospital fee. You can get a clear idea of the cost after your initial consultation, following which you will receive a detailed quote for your procedure.

Labiaplasty is a cosmetic procedure on the labia. It focuses on reducing the size of labia or making them symmetrical. If vaginal tightening is required, then more extensive surgical or non-surgical treatment may be planned. We can recommend a customized treatment plan based on the results you desire.

Our NJ labiaplasty procedure is unlikely to cause loss of sensation as no nerves are removed during the procedure. No nerves are damaged either as the network of nerves in the labia safeguard against loss of sensation. You can rest assured that your vaginal sensitivity and sensation will remain unaffected.

Yes! Pregnancy, childbirth, age and genetics can contribute to excess skin in the vaginal area. The excess skin can get pinched and twisted during day-to-day activity, causing a little or a lot of pain and chafing. Labiaplasty can correct the issue effectively and safely.

Labiaplasty is normally performed under local anesthesia. You may experience a bit of pain, discomfort and swelling after the procedure as the anesthesia wears off. This is easy to manage by following the post-operative instructions you receive from your surgeon.
