Laser Hair Removal
What Is it?
Removing unwanted hair is an endless and often painful chore that we all endure to maintain good hygiene and a fresh, neat appearance. Unfortunately, shaving results in unpleasant stubble, hair removal creams and gels can be ineffective and allergenic, and waxing just plain hurts.
Laser hair removal is a popular and painless medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light to target the hair follicles and prohibit new growth. Although the process actually takes a few scheduled treatments before hair completely stops growing, you may see the results you’re looking for more quickly than you would with waxing or other techniques.
The Rejuvenate Center for Medical Aesthetics and Wellness uses Syneron Candela’s GentleMax Pro laser, which is safe for all skin types, particularly darker skin which has fewer laser hair removal options.
What CAN I EXPECT?
Dr. Falguni Patel typically recommends six sessions for each area, with no waxing or tweezing in between treatments. There is often a bit of initial redness and swelling after each treatment, but it goes away quickly and is far less irritating than waxing or shaving.
We also advise female laser hair removal patients that they are most sensitive to the treatment during the week of their menstrual cycle. To keep any discomfort to a minimum, you should schedule your appointments accordingly.
Spider Vein Treatment
What Is It?
Unsightly spider veins can be caused by health conditions, pregnancy, injuries, obesity, sun damage, a sedentary lifestyle, hormonal changes, or simply aging. Similar to varicose veins, they can also be present on the face in one or more areas.
While not serious to the patient’s health, some people report discomfort such as skin itching or burning. Spider veins can cause a patient to feel self-conscious, however, and they can also develop into varicose veins, which can cause real problems.
The Rejuvenate Center for Medical Aesthetics and Wellness offers two treatments to reduce and eliminate unappealing spider veins: Sclerotherapy, which relies on a safe but effective salt solution to treat the veins, and the more conventional laser therapy, a safe and non-invasive alternative to surgery.
What Can I Expect?
For sclerotherapy patients, Dr. Falguni Patel injects a sterile salt solution directly into your blood vessels. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessels and causes them to shrink, reducing the spider vein or erasing it altogether.
The number of sclerotherapy treatments required may vary depending on the coverage of spider veins. Side effects of the treatments are temporary and may include mild bruising, swelling, or a stinging sensation.
Laser treatment is one of the best methods of removing spider veins because there is no downtime required for the patient, and you see immediate results.
Sun Spot Treatment
What is it?
Exposure to the sun and aging can create unsightly freckles and dark blemishes on the skin.
Let the Rejuvenate Center for Medical Aesthetics and Wellness get rid of unwanted spots and return your skin to a beautiful, unblemished appearance with just a few quick and easy treatments.
We use advanced laser technology to precisely target sun damage and age spots, and deliver energy to the area that stimulates your body’s natural healing process and causes the blemishes to slowly disappear. You’re left with clearer, more vibrant-looking skin.
Laser light treatment can be used to safely erase age spots, sun damage, and freckles on the face, neck, chest, arms, hands, legs, and feet. There is far less discomfort than with other treatments, and the pinpoint targeting affects a far smaller area than chemical creams and medications.
What Can I Expect?
Dr. Falguni Patel typically recommends only a few treatments for patients, although larger areas to be cleared of blemishes may require more treatments to achieve the desired results.
Each laser treatment session lasts approximately 20–30 minutes. Most patients experience a mild sensation similar to a mild sunburn after the session, possibly accompanied by some minor swelling, which normally only lasts a few hours. There is no downtime for most patients, and you should be able to return to normal activities immediately afterward.
With each treatment session, you can expect to see a decrease in the appearance of sunspots and blemishes in the treated area.
